NCA Seeks Public Comments on Draft 2023-2027 Strategic Plan
Mogadishu, June 28, 2023 – The National Communications Authority (NCA) of Somalia invites public comments on the draft 2023-2027 strategic plan, marking the first such document in the organization’s history.
As the communications regulator of Somalia, the NCA aims to establish a regulated market for the country’s communications and technology sector. With this mission and vision in mind, the NCA has developed the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan, which outlines eight strategic objectives and 14 strategic initiatives to guide the implementation of various tasks. The strategic objectives include: 1) Achieve Universal Access to ICT Services; 2) Ensure Efficient ICT Markets; 3) Ensure Sustainable Development of ICTs, 4) Market Analysis; 5) Ensure Appropriate Regulatory Environment; 6) Enhance Stakeholder Engagement and Communication; 7) Enhance Partnership and Collaboration; and 8) Management of Competition.
In a significant milestone, the NCA recently became the first government entity in Somalia to receive the ISO 9001:2015 Certification. This achievement highlights the NCA’s commitment to process improvement and demonstrates its dedication to delivering high-quality services.
Mustafa Yasin, General Manager of the NCA, stated, “Guided by our new plan, we will collaborate with various government entities and private stakeholders to drive the strategic objectives outlined in this document.”
By seeking public input, the NCA aims to ensure that the strategic plan aligns with the needs and aspirations of the Somali population, promotes transparency, and fosters inclusivity in developing the country’s communications and technology sector.
The NCA encourages individuals and organizations to provide feedback on all aspects of the draft plan. Comments and suggestions can be submitted via email to [email protected] until July 20, 2023. The NCA will carefully review all received comments before finalizing the strategic plan for 2023-2027. The approved plan will be made available on the NCA website in August 2023.
