Interconnection

The National Communications Law directs the NCA to adopt regulations and guidelines in a number of specific areas that are critical to the proper functioning of the telecommunications/ICT sectors. One of the essential elements for promoting competition and the efficient functioning of the telecommunications market is the establishment of interconnection.

Articles 49-53 of the National Communications Law, specifically give the NCA the authority to adopt regulations and guidelines for interconnection among Licensed Telecommunications Service Providers (MNOs) in the Federal Republic of Somalia and identify particular issues that NCA should address.

The Interconnection department is in charge of developing regulations and guidelines related to interconnection and providing the necessary guidelines and procedures in order to establish Interconnection between all the licensed telecommunication providers in Somalia.
