Mogadishu, August 14, 2024 — The National Communications Authority (NCA) of Somalia proudly announces the launch of its Regulatory Transformational Plan, an ambitious initiative aimed at modernizing the country’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. This plan is designed to elevate Somalia’s regulatory framework to a fourth-generation (G4) standard, in line with international best practices.
The unveiling event in Mogadishu attracted a diverse audience, including government officials, telecom operators, industry leaders, and civil society representatives. The broad attendance underscored the widespread support for this initiative, which is poised to reshape Somalia’s digital landscape by fostering a more competitive, innovative, and inclusive ICT environment.
Strategic Vision and Key Pillars
The Regulatory Transformational Plan is anchored in a strategic vision to enhance the NCA’s capacity and regulatory scope across four key pillars:-

The plan will be implemented in phases, beginning with a comprehensive assessment of the current regulatory environment, followed by targeted capacity-building initiatives. The final phase will include a thorough review and compliance verification against G4 standards, ensuring the regulatory framework is aligned with international benchmarks.
