The National Communications Authority plays a crucial role in ensuring fair pricing of telecommunications services. The NCA is tasked with overseeing pricing of Telecommunications Services within the Federal Republic of Somalia to prevent monopolistic practices, promote competition, and protect consumer interests.
According to the National Communications Law, the NCA must safeguard the development and advancement of communication services, taking into consideration the needs of consumers and the economy of the Federal Republic of Somalia. The NCA must advise on pricing of telecommunications services, establish conducts to strengthen market competition, perform conflict resolution and protect consumer rights specially in relation to pricing of services.
By establishing guidelines and regulations, the NCA aims to maintain a level playing field for all market players, encouraging innovation and investment, as well as monitoring pricing structures to ensure they are transparent, reasonable, and accessible to all segments of society.
